Bombardier and CRJ900 customer
Pluna agreed during the awards dinner
on Thursday night it was time to kick
some up some sand. “We talked about
how beautiful the beach was and how
we’d been inside the whole time,” said
Bombardier Commercial Aircraft’s vicepresident
marketing Philippe Poutissou
(right). “We thought we could use some
fun after a couple of days of hard work.”
Bombardier decided to host an
impromptu soccer match on Barra
da Tijuca Beach on Friday afternoon
to enjoy Rio de Janeiro’s famous
coastline and quickly circulated
word to delegates to step
out for some fresh air and
a kickabout.
The score? Pluna
came out 8-5 victors.

Airline bosses openly expressed their frustration
with protectionist air transport regimes in Argentina
and Venezuela that dampen competition and hold
back what should be good regional growth markets.
“Argentina is the black eye that many refer to,” said
TACA chairman Roberto Kriete during yesterday’s
Chief Executive Panel, while Venezuela came in for
similar criticism. Airline development in both countries
is falling behind compared to the rest of the region,
although Latin airline chiefs believe the two
countries have what it takes to succeed if liberalisation
takes place.
